Answers to the most common questions about our automatic feeders. If you don't find what you're looking for, email us and we'll get back to you within one business day.
We carry automatic feeders for cats and small to medium dogs. Our range includes basic timed dispensers, Wi-Fi models with cameras and two-way audio, and combination feeder-plus-water-fountain sets.
All of them are designed for dry kibble. If you're unsure which model fits your situation, the product page for each feeder lists the key specs, or you can email us and we'll help you choose.
Most models work well for cats and small to medium dogs. Larger dogs may eat faster than the dispenser is designed for, or may be able to knock over smaller units. Check the product description for size and weight recommendations — we include them where they're relevant.
No. These feeders are designed for dry kibble only. Wet food, raw food, and semi-moist food can clog the dispenser mechanism and create hygiene problems that are difficult to clean properly. If your pet is on a wet food diet, this type of feeder isn't the right fit.
All Wi-Fi enabled models require a 2.4GHz network. They do not support 5GHz. Most home routers broadcast both bands — if yours does, make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz network during setup. If you're unsure, check your router settings or contact your internet provider.
It depends on your cats. A 5–6L capacity feeder holds enough food for two cats for several days, and the scheduled portions can be set for combined daily intake. However, if your cats compete for food, eat at very different speeds, or are on different diets, a separate feeder for each cat usually works better in practice.
Basic timed feeders can be set up using the control panel on the unit itself — no app required for core scheduling. Wi-Fi and camera models need the companion app for remote access, live video, and app-based scheduling. Each product page specifies which app is required and confirms iOS and Android compatibility.
Most customers describe it as a brief, low hum — a few seconds, similar to a small coffee grinder. It's not silent, but it's not particularly loud either. Cats that startle easily usually adjust within a few days once they connect the sound to mealtime. If noise is a concern, we're happy to give you more specific guidance on a particular model before you buy.
Each feeder comes with a printed instruction manual. The general process is: fill the food compartment with dry kibble, plug in the unit, then set your feeding schedule using either the control panel or the companion app. First-time setup with the app typically takes 5–10 minutes.
If you run into trouble during setup, email us at support@aussieloc.com — we're familiar with each model and can usually walk you through it quickly.
Depending on the model, you can schedule between 1 and 6 meals per day. Each meal can be set to a specific time with its own portion size. The product page for each model lists the exact scheduling capabilities.
The feeder keeps running on its programmed schedule using the onboard timer. Wi-Fi is only needed for app control and camera access — your pet won't miss a meal if the connection drops. The schedule is stored on the device itself, not in the cloud.
Most of our feeders run on AC power with a battery backup. The backup typically lasts 2–4 weeks under normal use, which is enough to cover most outages. The feeder will continue dispensing food on schedule during that time. Battery backup capacity varies by model — check the product page for specifics.
The food bowl and tray are removable on all models, and most are dishwasher-safe on the top rack. We recommend cleaning the bowl and tray at least once a week. The food hopper should be emptied and wiped down every 2–4 weeks, or whenever you refill it. Avoid getting water into the motor unit.
Jamming is usually caused by one of three things: kibble that's too large for the dispenser opening, kibble that has swollen slightly due to humidity, or food debris built up in the dispenser channel. Try emptying the hopper completely and checking the kibble size against the product's recommendations. Clean the dispenser channel with a dry brush.
If the problem persists, email us with a short video of what's happening and we'll help troubleshoot — or arrange a replacement if it's a mechanical issue covered under warranty.
